Goal: To develop our organic garden as a resource to engage and train individuals and to increase awareness of environmental issues and sustainable development in our community.

The organic garden in Knockanrawley was established in 1997 and is governed by ecological and organic principles.

Organic Vegetables: Organic vegetables in season are available for sale from the garden, just call in between 9.30am and 1.30pm and any member of staff will be able to help you.

Gardening classes: Gardening classes are either certified, like FETAC, or non-certified like the allotment / backgarden / community gardening. Courses are run for residents groups with an emphasis on making hanging baskets and containers by request.

Community Service Programme: The Garden facilitates a Probation and Welfare Community Service Programme for people who have been directed by court order to undertake community work in lieu of a custodial sentence. Community service programme participants have been working in the Knockanrawley garden since 2003 and have made a valuable contribution.

Volunteers: We welcome volunteer gardeners in the garden anytime, whether it is to learn skills or just to relax with other gardeners and pick up tips.

Schools Are Welcome!

We encourage schools to visit and take part in our activities both in the garden and native hedgerow nursery. Please contact us to arrange a visit!
